Building in Harmony
With Nature
Alchemy Natural Building creates custom, modern living spaces using time-tested natural materials. From strawbale and hempcrete to non-toxic remodeling, we build healthy, fire-resistant, and high-performance eco-homes in Spokane and Coeur d'Alene.
Our Expertise
Rooted in tradition.
Designed for today.
We specialize in construction techniques that prioritize human health, environmental stewardship, and generational durability.
Custom Natural Homes
We craft bespoke, highly efficient eco-homes using time-tested methods like straw bale, hempcrete, cob, and light straw clay. By designing with nature rather than against it, we create breathable, profoundly comfortable, and fire-resistant living spaces that nourish both you and the environment.
- Hempcrete & Strawbale
- Fire-resistant construction
- Carbon negative potential
Earthen & Lime Plasters
Breathable, non-toxic finishes for interiors and exteriors. We craft artisan lime plaster and clay plaster that regulate humidity, eliminate VOCs, and bring a warm, tactile beauty to any space.
- Lime plaster finishes
- Clay base coats & finishes
- Tadelakt waterproof finishes
General Contracting
We offer full service general contracting—seeing your non-toxic construction project or remodel from dream to finished reality. We have background in all phases of the building process as well as trusted partners to execute on schedule.

Plastering
Wall finishes are the subtle skin that ties together all the layers of a complex building. They are also the largest surface area in a built space. We believe they should look good, feel good, and be made of ingredients like natural plaster that promote human health.
- Health promoting materials
- Beautiful custom finishes
- Large surface integration
Consultation
The idea of shelter is simple, but the integration of the myriad complex systems to create a beautiful, high-performance, comfortable, health-promoting building is not. We are here to guide you through the options, lore, science, and worm holes of the journey.
- System integration guidance
- High-performance planning
- Building science expertise

Who We Are
Transforming raw earth into living art.
At Alchemy Natural Building, we believe the spaces we inhabit should nourish us and the environment. I grew up in Sandpoint, ID, and after traveling in my early 20s, I landed back there working in carpentry. I have now been building houses for 10+ years.
I developed a passion for natural building many years ago and started working in the natural building world about 5 years ago. By utilizing locally sourced clay, sand, straw, and timber, we create structures that breathe, regulate their own climate, and leave a minimal carbon footprint.
My partner and I are now working on building our second home here in Spokane, WA in the beautiful community of Peaceful Valley. It is a fully naturally built home with straw bale walls, lime and clay plaster walls, and an earthen floor. This has been a family project that our young son has gotten to be a part of as well.
We are thrilled to offer eco-friendly, sustainably built, beautiful homes and finishes to our community in Spokane and North Idaho. It is an honor to bring deep expertise and artisanal craftsmanship to every project we undertake.
